Tony, thanks for the great app! It really made Spaces into a hyper productive part of my Snow Leopard workflow.

I just upgraded to Lion this weekend and am still trying to figure out the ins and outs of Mission Control.

What's next for you? Do you have a next cool project in mind?

    Jim

Thanks, Jim! Right now I am working on some great projects for clients, but I'll be releasing some more CocoaBots apps later in the year — nothing to see yet though ;)

Just wanted to say 'thanks' for Hyperspaces'. Really through it was a good app that solved the 'which space am I on?' question well & allowed me to have some great pictures on the different desktops as well :)

Thanks for the contribution and more power to your keyboard.

Thank you for Hyperspaces. I hope that someday you may revisit the app and make it work in Lion and beyond. I am still on Snow Leopard and have no plans to upgrade any time soon.

    Continued success.

Gotta further what Jim said. I never really found Spaces to be particularly useful, but the ability to jump between spaces with the tap of a few keys and suddenly it opened up its hidden powers. I also loved having a unique desktop image and caption for each logical work space.

Apparently the folks who do MagicPrefs haven't been able to get this to work either. I guess I'm back to a single cluttered workspace unless anyone knows how to easily switch without having to invoke Mission Control...

Just wanted to say many thanks for a great App that transformed Snow Leopard and made my workflow so much quicker. It even coped with Parallels which is one thing Mission Control appears to struggle with.
Truly sad for and App gave so much

    Cheers

Still a very nice app mate - found it after reverting back from Lion, and
HyperSpaces+Snow Leopard feels like an upgrade over Lion :-)

To reply specifically to Daniel James (and generally to Gary Thomas):

With Mission Control in Lion, you ARE able to (a) switch to a specific space with a keyboard command and (b) assign a different desktop picture to each space (and to each monitor separately).

I find that my use of Mission Control in Lion is almost identical to my use of Spaces in Snow Leopard (+ Hyperspaces).

The only things I'm missing in Lion/Mission Control are:

    1) Although I can assign a different desktop pic to each space, I can't assign a label as I could in Snow Leopard thanks to Hyperspaces

    2) There's no longer a menu extra in the menubar that I can glance at to tell me what space I'm in.

This is from someone who's using 16 spaces (aka Desktops)!

To accomplish all this, first create in Mission Control all the spaces/Desktops you need.

Then, go to each space/Desktop and use the "Desktop & Screen Saver" preference pane to assign a desktop pic for that space/Desktop (and to each monitor, if you have more than one).

Then go to the Keyboard preference pane, to the Keyboard Shortcuts pane, and assign a keystroke shortcut to each space/Desktop.

All of your settings are permanent (as long as you don't destroy any Desktop).

    Tony,

I want to thank you for Hyperspace, and let you know all of us are not enamored with Lion. There are so many applications and pieces of hardware that don't and never will be compatible with Lion, that I won't be upgrading until my 2009 iMac is dead and unrepairable. I've spent too much on software and hardware to abandon them now.

So, from all of us where Snow Leopard is the end of the road for OS X upgrades, thank you for Hyperspace!

This is a bummer. I reached the end of my rope today with Mission Control and started looking for solutions for a more pre Lion/Spaces-like solution for "desktops" only to find that Hyperspaces is being nixed! (I was thinking that perhaps there would be a new version if nothing else).

I'm not entirely sure what it is about Mission Control that irks me the most, but the broken app switching and assignments are annoying, as is the linear limitation. I was comfortable with my 9-space set-up, where the center space was my work center with peripheral apps on all sides. I think I did more switching vertically and diagonally than I did left or right.

I know that with the CTRL + # shortcut, it should at least minimize the linear nature, but it doesn't for me. I find that it's tough remember what app is in which space—mapping a line feels less precise than mapping a grid.

Mission Control and LaunchPad are poorly considered iOS translations that suck. IMO, they are just as limiting for iOS as they are for MacOS.

So my point of taking the time to offer these thoughts is that I'd pay for a Mission Control replacement—and I can't be alone...
